GLASS

Using diverse literature, this course integrates reading, writing, listening, speaking, and fluency.  We will be improving reading skills through constant reading in a variety of genres including short stories, poetry, plays, non fiction articles, and novels.  Writing will also be an important focus of this class as we learn to create, draft, and revise narrative, expository, and persuasive essays.  Students will participate in a variety of learning activities such as cooperative groups, literature circles, class discussions, and informal and formal assessments.  These activities will be geared towards actively engaging each student in the learning process and assisting them in becoming responsible learners.
